Coop and the Chicken Pluckers are:

Dave Devore – lead guitar and vocals
Les Cooper – vocals and rhythm guitar
Ken Raikes – drums
Mark Verschoor – upright bass and vocals

Les and Dave met on June 15, 1994 at a tryout for a then unnamed honky-tonk western swing group that was later named the Dalhart Imperals.
Les played for 13 years with that band and Dave for about 8 years.
After the drummer had a motorcycle accident Ken stepped in to play drums for the Dalharts until the drummer was healed.
Ken is Les' neighbor and he is a former music teacher and Reno area musician. He played with artists such as mac Davis, Shirley Jones and Lena Horn.

Dave, Ken and Les messed around for a couple of years trying to put a project together after the Dalhart Imperials ended.
They were trying to do something less traditional, but it was hard to find a bass player.
They played some Gospel tunes in various metro area churches and worked with a charity for the homeless and working poor called Mean Street Ministry.
Les throws a BBQ every year and there he played a couple of tunes with Mark, who just moved in from the Netherlands and played there in several rockabilly bands.
At a rockabilly show in Denver he met Mark again and after talking for a while they decided to give it a try.
The first show was opening for the Lucky Few at the Skylark Lounge in Denver in March of 2011.
Coop and the Chicken Pluckers play mostly rockabilly, but there is a dose of other musical styles that they love.
You will hear hillbilly, jump blues, traditional and alt country.
Les being a songwriter, they also play originals in all the styles mentioned above.
Some of the covers they play are from artists like George Jones, Big Joe Turner, Elvis, Skeets McDonald, Ronnie Dawson and Justin Towns Earl.
