GHOST PREMIERE “FROM THE PINNACLE TO THE PIT” FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM MELIORA OUT AUGUST 21ST ON LOMA VIST

ShareThis

Ghost today announced the arrival of “From The Pinnacle To The Pit” from their forthcoming third sacred psalm, Meliora. The song will be available for instant download for those who pre-order the album, along with the previously released track “Cirice”. Meliora is due out on August 21st on Loma Vista Recordings and is the follow up to 2013’s heralded INFESTISSUMAM.

“We always have had a craving for a truly stomping riff-based song, Led Zeppelin style. Something that would sound great coming out of a car stereo standing at an American high school parking lot” – A nameless ghoul, regarding “From The Pinnacle To The Pit”

Papa Emeritus III and his nameless ghouls will return to Summit Music Hall October 17 to deliver their satanic melodies to audiences across the continent this fall for their ‘Black To The Future’ headlining tour.

Ghost released their second album INFESTISSUMAM on April 16th, 2013 via Loma Vista Recordings. The 10-song offering was produced by Grammy® Award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains) in Nashville, TN and debuted at #1 on the iTunes Rock Album Chart. SPIN called the album, "one of the most anticipated heavy metal albums of 2013” and Pitchfork praised its “addictive as sin” hooks. Rolling Stone described their sound as “somewhere between Mastodon and Metallica, with a heavy dose of Swedish synth mixed in." In November of 2013, the band released If You Have Ghost, a five track EP recorded and produced by Dave Grohl, including cover versions of songs by Roky Erickson, ABBA, Army of Lovers, and Depeche Mode. Ghost have toured the U.S. Extensively and appeared at various music festivals across the country, including Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Rock on the Range.

Early praise for Meliora…

"A perfect occult Metal mass” 7 out of 7 - Metal Hammer

"The record is yet another creative giant leap forward for the group, mixing up in various and fascinating ways '70s-era psychedelic and prog rock, unhinged doom metal and classic AOR balladry - all of it informed by a pronounced, sophisticated pop consciousness that yields ear candy-like hooks that last for days." – Music Radar

The Sonics Play Summit Music Hall June 18

ShareThis
Live Nation and Soda Jerk Presents are proud to present The Sonics at Summit Music Hall on Thursday, June 18th. Special guests TBA will open the show.

Originally from Tacoma, WA, The Sonics are claimed worldwide to be the first punk band, or garage, or hard rock, or alternative, setting the stage for all that would follow.

The Sonics' songs and precedent music creations began in 1964, with a visit from Etiquette Records co-owner Buck Ormsby. Not too impressed with the performance of cover songs, Ormsby asked if they had any originals.  A killer riff was played, but the lyrics didn't work. Two visits and a change in lyrics later, the song The Witch was born. The Sonics' first 45 single was released on Etiquette Records in 1964.
Overnight, they became the band to see, the new sensations, the bad boys of rock.

The new enlightenment, and the band's acceptance by music fans and DJs, demanded the band's first LP. Here Are the Sonics was recorded in Seattle late 1964 and released early 1965 to raves.  This established the Sonics as one of the most progressive and popular rock bands in the Northwest.  The classic The Sonics Boom LP recorded in late 1965 and released in 1966 was the final Sonics album recordings on the Etiquette label.  Both albums feature some of the most daring and dynamic rock music ever put to 2-track tape.

Despite an early retirement from music, The Sonics left a legacy and decades of fans who continued to spread the word and the music. Still revered, in late 2007 the Sonics regrouped and reignited on the scene in Brooklyn, NY headlining two sold out shows at the Warsaw.

The Sonics' return has sparked international promoters, journalists, reviewers, festival organizers and hordes of dedicated and new fans to embrace the group whose music has thrilled and inspired so many for so many years.

AWOLNation Announce New Album, Jimmy Kimmel Performance, and Premiere New Video

ShareThis
AWOLNATION is currently premiering a new video for the song titled “Windows” from the upcoming album that can be viewed on YouTube.

The wait is over! US, stream the full album now on First Play on @iTunesMusic Radio. http://smarturl.it/RunFirstPlay.

Fans that pre-order the new album at iTunes will instantly receive downloads of “Windows,” the title track “Run,” and the debut single “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf).” Already climbing the charts, the track quickly became the #1 most added track at alternative radio where it currently sits in the Top 10. KROQ will stream a special AWOLNATION performance live from the Red Bull Sound Space on Tuesday, March 10 at 3:00pm Pacific. Fans can view the concert in its entirety online at http://kroq.cbslocal.com/webcast. Tune in to catch the band performing “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)” on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC 11:35pm/10:35pm central) on Wednesday, March 11.

Following a whirlwind two-year world tour in support of Megalithic Symphony, AWOLNATION withdrew into the depths of the California coastline to construct the sophomore effort. A culmination of the years following the release of the debut album, the 14-track Run, was written, performed and produced entirely by musical architect Aaron Bruno. The end result is a finely tuned musical masterwork that is at times, and all at once, sprawling, atmospheric, exuberant, earnest and refined with moments of a signature aggressive unease.

Released in 2011, the band’s gold-certified debut album Megalithic Symphony was an alternative music revelation that became an astonishing success resonating with fans around the world. The album holds a number of long-running Billboard chart positions including 146 weeks on the Independent Albums chart, 111 weeks on the Billboard Top 200, 105 weeks on the Top Rock Albums chart and has topped the Heatseekers Albums chart several times over. Their hit single “Sail,” a redefining global anthem, is certified 6X Platinum in the U.S., and is the second longest charting song in the Billboard Hot 100's 55-year history amassing hundreds of millions of video views and streaming plays online while charting around the world. Following the success of “Sail,” the band would go on to have two more Top 10 charting alternative singles, “Not Your Fault” and “Kill Your Heroes,” having sold over a million downloads combined. Since the release of their debut, AWOLNATION has performed countless shows to millions of fans across the globe.  posted: March 10, 2015

Corrosion of Conformity to play Blind in Entirety April 29

ShareThis
Corrosion of Conformity founding member, Reed Mullin, has reunited with former COC frontman and current King Hitter vocalist, Karl Agell, to perform COC’s 1991 break out album, "Blind", live in its entirety. All Music Guide calls Blind “one of the most important heavy rock albums of the decade.”  Blind was recently named the 115th inductee into Decibel Magazine’s Hall of Fame.  Decibel editor, Albert Mudrian, notes, “you'd have to be deaf not to mention Blind, and not to recognize Karl Agell as one of the greatest metal vocalists of the past 25 years."  Corrosion of Conformity Blind pays homage to a pivotal moment in the trajectory of COC's existence as a band, a truly remarkable legacy that has lasted for over 33 years. Rounding out the Corrosion of Conformity Blind line-up, Mullin along with Agell have recruited Karl’s King Hitter bandmates Scott Little and Mike Brown on guitars. And on bass, Jerry Barrett from the legendary HR of Bad Brains solo project.

Outside of this great legacy tour and King Hitter, Agell is involved with Reed Mullin’s supergroup, Teenage Time Killers. The TTK album, as reported by Rolling Stone, will be released via Rise Records in 2015 and features a host of guests including Dave Grohl, Randy Blythe, Corey Taylor, Neil Fallon, Jello Biafra, plus Mike Dean and Woody Weatherman from COC. posted: March 10, 2015

Defeater Signs to Epitaph, Announces Marquis Tour Date and New Album

ShareThis
Boston-based melodic hardcore band Defeater has signed to Epitaph with plans to release a new album in 2015. After a full year of being off the road, Defeater has announced dates for their first U.S. headlining tour this spring.  Defeater plays Marquis Theater April 22.

Front man Derek Archambault performed shows for two years with a cane, but now, fully recovered from a 2014 hip replacement surgery, he is ready to perform again.
“After a year away from touring and nearly two of immobility, I have never been happier to push forward with Defeater,” said Archambault. “Releasing a new album with a label I have bought records from for more than 20 years still doesn't feel real. Like many of my peers, Epitaph's 90's roster was a big part of the soundtrack to my teenage ears. Signing to Epitaph and a full U.S. tour this spring has the makings of a banner year for Defeater.”

Defeater has released three studio albums on Bridge 9 Records, Travels (2008), Lost Ground (2009), Empty Days & Sleepless Nights (2011), and Letters Home (2013). All of the band's recordings tell the story of a working class family living in New Jersey during the Post-?World War II era.
Defeater will release their fourth concept album in 2015 on Epitaph.

“We want to thank everyone for the unbelievable continued support of us this past year and we hope we get a chance to thank you personally in 2015. Let’s do this,” said guitarist Jay Maas. posted: January 21, 2015
