Single File
A rock band from southern California? A jazz trio from Colorado? Something about North Carolina? And who the hell is Laura, anyway? Long story very short: Joe, Sloan and Chris have been writing music together since their early years in junior high / high school, and have played more shows in more bands together than anyone who cares can keep track of.
As the three friends grew older and moved to separate parts of the country in pursuit of higher education and stable career paths, the trios undying passion for music and song writing had all but died. It wasnt long before their daily routine was replaced with countless summer recording sessions, trips from coast to coast, and the now infamous long-distance phone rehearsals between Sloan (NC) and Joe (CA) that ultimately led to the inception of their first acoustic EP, As You Were (2003).
It was only a matter of time before the three were reunited in southern California.
After writing, self-recording and producing their next two full-band EP’s, “Heartbreak…” (2004) and “My Best Defense” (2005), Single File set out to conquer the United States from their new home base (and former hometown) of Denver, Colorado. To date the boys have self-booked and promoted six national tours as well as recently completing their second Vans Warped Tour earlier this summer, earning the respect of countless audiences across the United States.
In 2007, Single File was signed to Reprise Records by Craig Aaronson (MCR, The Used, Glassjaw, Jimmy Eat World) and released another EP “No More Sad Face”. They are currently writing and recording their flagship collection of “bittersweet indie-pop” with producer Howard Benson (MCR, Saosin, The Starting Line) and touring the country with Saves the Day.
