Roe

THE STORY: “What can I say?” says Espy. “Describing our band is a lot like describing a dysfunctional family. You never want to let on to others that your family is jaded or weird, but in the end it’s that distinction that makes them… well distinct.” “I mean really” he continues, “we’re just four regular guys, playing the type of music that we love. The truth is that, despite our differences in backgrounds and styles, we’ve poured our hearts and emotions into creating honest music that reflects our struggles and triumphs as we continue through life together. In the end it always seems to come out raw and jaded but it is what we are, because it’s an extention of all of us… We are Roe.”

THE MUSIC: "A mixture of upbeat melodies and swooning tales of heartache and change. Roe pulls us flawlessly into the emotion and honesty of their tunes without abandoning their sentiment. Driven by blending piano based rock with heartfelt lyrics, carried by guitars and drums, Roe cleverly walks the line between rock and pop with more grace than a ballerina. "

THE PERSPECTIVE: “The truth is, we’re more like four brothers that happen to play music together, than four musicians who have come together to act like brothers…” The band comments, “…we fight it out over nearly every lyric, chord, melody, rhythm and syncopation, but in the end our music thrives because we’re not afraid to tell eachother that something isn’t working right in the tune, or if need be, that something just plain sucks.”

Anderson comments, “It’s funny, but the DIFFERENCES that we have in our perspectives towards music are actually what makes us more of a unified group than any other aspect; More than anything, the part that keeps us doing this is that we can all bring our individual styles to the table, and create something coherent out of the mixture. It doesn’t always work at first, and it isn’t always easy, but it always seems to turn out exactly the way that it should in the end. And that, I think, is what really sets us apart from other groups… Our strong convictions in how the music should turn out, and the willingness to battle it out with eachother over the music really helps to keep the message TRUE to us as a group. In the end, thats why it means so much.”

THE ACHEIVMENTS: In a little over a year Roe has become one of the most prominent bands in northern Colorado. Combining a powerful stage show with immaculate musicianship and songwriting, the constant comment from fans expresses that, “..the CD is great, but more impressively, Roe is FANTASTIC live.” From write ups in newspapers and magazines, to an increasing amount of airplay on several of Colorado’s most prominent radio stations; not to mention over a hundred thousand plays on myspace… the beat of Roe’s music is beginning to spread through the local scene at an incredible rate. Headlining shows at the Aggie, Gothic, Marquis and Fox, sharing the stage with acts such as Single File (Warner Bros Records) Augustana (Epic Records) and Everyday Tragedy (Agency Records), and a constant regimen of gigging and promoting, Roe has rapidly caught Colorado listeners by storm… and they show no signs of slowing down.
