Matt Pryor
Matt Pryor (The New Amsterdams, ex-Get Up Kids) announces his first solo tour that kicks off in Minneapolis on August 6th. The first 13 dates are co-headliner’s with Chris Conley of Saves The Day, followed by headlining dates across the southern and eastern US with Kevin Devine.
“This is the first full tour I’ve done in five years and I’m excited to get out and play for people,” says Pryor. “Being out with good friends like Chris and Kevin should make for really fun shows.”
A limited number of tickets have been held for fans and will be available through an exclusive Ducat King presale that began yesterday, Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 1:00PM local time.
Confidence Man (Vagrant, 07/29/08) is an intimate collection of acoustic songs that showcase Pryor’s skillful songwriting at its bare, emotive minimum. The 15 tracks were self-produced and self-recorded and encompass a long span of Pryor’s career. The oldest, “Dear Lover,” originated in 1995 and appears on this record in its third incarnation. The newest songs, like “A Totally New Year,” “Only” and “Lovers Who Have Lost Their Cause,” were conceived only a few months ago.
“I’ve always wanted to do something that was quieter and acoustic and could be played by one person,” said Pryor about the impetus behind the new record. “I wanted to go out and play shows alone. I just want to have my little folk moment.”
The Lawrence, KS native will also be performing on select dates with his children’s music group, The Terrible Twos, in support of their upcoming release, Jerzy The Giant (07/29/08, Vagrant).
